Both series were ranked as being more competitive than recreational with the road series being slightly moreso. The vast majority of responders agreed that the races should remain as they are rather than get more or less competitive. We also got alot of feeback how we organise the series the our association. Age group awards 2015

January 11th, 2016

During 2015 the Interior Running Association executive reviewed the age group awards given to series winners. This was prompted by the increasing number of awards that are purchased and personalized only to never be collected. To make the process more efficient the executive agreed that the 2015 awards will include gift certificates to a number of local running stores; easier to personalize, and easier to distribute.

There has been a bit of a delay in getting this process completed. Eligible winners of the age groups in the road race series have already received their Timex watches, and eligible winners of the cross country series have already been sent their gift certificates. However, we are still in the process of distributing gift certificates to other award winners. We will be sending out gift certificates to those who placed 10 deep in the road race series age groups (must complete 4 races) and 5 deep in the cross country series age groups (must complete 3 races). We hope to have this process completed within the next week. If you still have not received your award by then or have any questions please contact us at awards@interiorrunningassociation.com.

We apologize for the delay in getting these awards distributed and shall be conducting a survey shortly to determine the preferred awards given and their scope.

Fresh Air Hard Knox 12K

July 30th, 2015

You may remember last winter we surveyed all runners and Volunteers asking about improvements that might be made to the Peak to Beak run. Peak to Beak had a very loyal following of roughly 100 runners but it has not grown beyond these numbers. In fact, the same familiar faces ran each year but there were fewer as time and life marched on. Time for re-invention!

Given the various discussions and ideas, it has taken a long time to find an exciting model and we feel we have it – Fresh Air Hard Knox Challenge. We have an old friend of the Kelowna Running Club, Fresh Air Concept and Fresh Air Experience on board as a Corporate Sponsor. With their enthusiasm and support we bring the first iteration of an event we will grow from year to year. The Fresh Air Hard Knox Challenge is centered on the popular mountain and park in the north end of Kelowna.

Features of the event will include:

  • Knox Grind – race the Apex trail to the first lookout. The fastest Male and Female runners will win Mizuno runners
  • Two for One IRA race credits – both road and trail series points will be awarded
  • A 12 KM run that includes a Lakeshore run to the Delta Grand and then to Paul’s Tomb (one of the best trails in the Kelowna area). A great finishing leg along Poplar Point Road – no killer uphill grind to mount at the end
  • See MapMyRun for route map
  • A post-race BBQ at the finish line – free to runners and volunteers. For your fans and family, at modest charge they too can enjoy food from EK Grill (a sponsor as well)
  • This event will be one everyone - whether runner or walker can enjoy – you do not have to be in marathon condition to succeed.
  • More details are in the planning stage and will unfold soon.

The Zone4 registration system is now open.

Hope you and your friends will join us on September 20th

31st Memorial Larry Nicholas Cross Country 9K

October 13th, 2014

Many thanks to Shawn Baenziger for his interview with Donna Nicholas about the Larry Nicholas memorial bursary.

Charming teahouse helps receiving donations
Bursary for sports and outdoor education and recreation

Going to Donna Nicholas’ house is like entering into another world, a world we only know from fairy books and never thought it would exist in our hectic world. In the back of her main house stands this beautifully adorned teahouse with a welcome gate and smoke billowing out of the chimney on this cool fall day afternoon.

Sitting at the top of the table, looking at you with vivid eyes, carefully thinking what to say, her answers often interrupted with a hearty laugh, Donna explains and tells how she has been augmenting the Larry Nicholas bursary for more than 30 years, often funded by donations she receives at her charming teahouse.

Donna Nicholas is the hub and center of the Larry Nicholas memorial bursary that was established in 1983 by Dennis Zahara after the tragic death of her son Larry and his friend Dick in a mountain climbing accident. The money has been invested by the Central Okanagan Foundation and the money earned distributed by the Central Okanagan Bursary and Scholarship Society to applying students form graduating classes of School District 23. Every year, the successful applicant may receive around $ 500 for sports and outdoor education and recreation.

The main contributor to the bursary is the Kelowna Running Club with the annual Larry Nicholas memorial cross country run. “I want to ensure that the numbers of runners are kept up,” Donna says. “With the continuation of the bursary it was like Larry’s life made somehow a contribution and young people will benefit from it. I cannot fully express my gratitude for the Running Club having done this every year.” Donna Nicholas was an enthusiastic runner herself, running all 11 series races, 6 cross country races and 2 marathons in 1999, being awarded the runner of the year title in that year.

“Larry really loved running,” Donna says. “I want the Larry Nicholas run to be affordable.” This year’s entry fee for the Larry Nicholas run is set at $ 12 and will hopefully again attract more runners, keeping the bursary growing and the memory of Larry Nicholas alive.

Peak to Beak

September 5th, 2014

Fall is definitely in the air so the P2B goes on September 21. The route is the same as last year so you can enjoy all the Valley has to offer from Mountain to Lake to Kalamoir Park and of course the vineyards and the vista at Quails’ Gate finish line. With the recent rain, Knox Mountain Park should have the fire ban removed and the Yacht Club construction should not interfere with your run along the Boardwalk. All is looking good for a challenging but great run.

There are already more than 50 runners registered and we again have a bottle of wine for the first 100 runners registered before the 17th. Register on Zone4 click here.

Any questions? Contact Trevor Haaheim at (250) 863-5884 or myself at the number below.

PS: If you are bringing your fans along, we can always use more volunteers.

Cheers!!

Looking for help with PR

February 26th, 2014

We have many wonderful races in our series! They are well organized, well timed and very well priced. Many of these races have been held for 20-30 years, and we believe that it's time to put some excitement back into them. With all the competition from big for profit runs these days we need to let more runners know about our races. About how much fun they are, and that they are for anyone, not just the serious racer. We feel that where we fall down is in our approach to PR and advertising. Race directors are usually too busy to get involved in PR, and, let's face it, sometimes we just assume that because the race has been held for so many years that 'everyone' knows about it.

With these thoughts in mind we are planning to hold a seminar on March 15, in Kelowna, to focus on getting our races more exposure in the media. Heading up the discussion will be John Wilson, webmaster IRA and KRC websites and Shawn Baenziger, editor KRC website (www.kelownarunningclub.com), all of whom have had experience in dealing with the media, and know what the media wants.

This seminar is open to all. If you enjoy writing e-mails, perhaps have a knack with words, and would like to help out your club but haven't a lot of time to spare, this could be perfect for you. Topics will include -

  • Current promotion of events and clubs
  • Successes and lessons
  • Options for publicity
  • Online promotion and social media
  • Offline campaigns
  • Working with teams and volunteers
  • Promotional strategy and schedule
  • Analyzing success
  • Exercises in promotion
  • Web technologies and working with Content Management Systems
  • Sports photography and video
  • Writing and publicizing a sports story
  • Setting up promotional schedule for 2014
  • Developing a media directory for promotion

The workshop will take place from 10:00 until 16:00 with lunch provided by the IRA. Participants are encouraged to bring any examples of promotional media that is of interest.

Message Bill Stephens for the location if you are interested in attending.

Call for volunteers

February 15th, 2014

Racing season is just starting up, and at all the IRA racing locations, we are looking for people who might be interested in helping out with timing. If you or someone you know has some interest, there will be opportunities for 'at-race' and off-site instruction at beginners levels. For those of you who love supporting the local running scene, it's a fantastic way to give back. For more information, contact RJ Dueck at Dueck.rj@gmail.com or any of the local race directors

If you are interested in any aspect of event and club promotion we'd love to have your involvement. If you can only make the afternoon session you can still get involved with the photography and sports story aspects of the workshop, along with promotional planning for the year ahead.

If you want any further information or are interested in attending please message Bill Stephens for details.

We will be sending out the series prizes to each club. Club members receiving IRA awards will receive these from their clubs.(possibly at their respective Christmas parties) If you qualify for an award and are not a member of a club, please contact Bill Stephens at wgstephens@shaw.ca by October 20 for the Road Series and November 15 for the Cross Country series.. Bike Barn 10k race report

September 15th, 2013

Thanks to the efforts of Neil Macdonald and Scott Buchanan, the BB10K returned to the schedule after a one year hiatus. This early fall race offers a flat, two loop course which should afford a good shot at a PB, and I heard of several, but unfortunately, the new Wine Country Half in Kelowna the previous day seemed to affect the attendance, with only 105 finishers. Hans Aabye, winner of seven IRA races this year, missed his first one after placing third in the Half, with the excellent time of 1:14, and several other notables were missing as well.

Young Cael Warner (M16-19) of Kaleden, who had only heard about the race on Friday at school, led the first lap before being overtaken by two experienced runners, with Trevor Haaheim (M40-44) of Kelowna taking the victory in 34:47, with John Machuga (M30-34), who said he was just out for a 'tempo run' as he trains for 5000m on the track, second in 35:17.

Warner held on to third in 35:57. Lisa Heidt (F35-39) of Vernon, was the only woman to break 40 minutes, winning in 39:50, with Delilah Topic (F30-34) of Kelowna second in 42:23, and Marie-Josee Bedard of Merritt third in 42:37.

On age-graded times, Bruce Wark (M60-64) of Merritt took his fourth victory in a row, finishing twelfth overall in 39:27, which graded at 31:27. Haaheim garnered second in 32:38, with Kelowna's Gary Wade (M45-49) taking third in 33:05. Warner and Machuga were relegated to sixth and seventh. Wark needs only to finish the Peak to Beak to win the Greenaway Cup, while Liz Borrett ((F70-74) won the Muckle-Gader Cup without even racing, when Cindy Rhodes and Diane Leonard didn't show up either.

In this race, Heidt scored the rare double of finishing first on the road and on age grading, with 39:16, while Susan Templin (F60-64) took second in 39:32, and Arnie Gash (F65-69) of Okanagan Falls was third in 39:43. Bedard and Topic took fourth and fifth positions.

Our final IRRS race of the season is the Peak to Beak in Kelowna on Sep. 22. This race is a real toughie, but you owe it to yourself to challenge the course at least once in your career, and why not this year, with wine for the first 100 entrants of legal age. Trevor Haaheim took on the RD duties to save the race, which has been going for over 30 years, so please support his efforts by coming out to run. If the whole enchilada seems a bit too much to choke down, why not find a friend and do the relay? The entry link is in this right column of this page.

For the dusty-foot crowd, our trail series starts Sep. 29 with the Campbell Mountain 6.5k in Penticton.

Happy Running everyone; Rick Jenkner reporting.

Midsummer 8K – 2013

July 22nd, 2013

For the second time this year, the Road Race series ran two races within a week, and for the second time, Hans Aabye (M35-39) won both of them to extend his winning streak to six. Hans has won seven of nine IRA starts this year and has never finished lower than third. He also ran in the lead of the Vancouver, Washington Marathon for much of the race before fading to third, as his strength had been sapped by a stomach bug that week.

The race moved to Gyro Park this year, for a flatter, faster, course with a beach finish, and thanks to race director Ray Snitynsky and the KRC and their crew of volunteers, the move went seamlessly. The race began at 8am, and thankfully it was a little cooler than on Canada Day, and there was lots of shade along Abbott Street past the heritage houses that racers didn't have time to appreciate. Hans' nemesis John Machuga (M30-34) made his return to IRA racing, but Hans didn't give him any opening, racing away to his usual early lead and then hanging on for the victory in the fine time of 26:13 to Machuga's 26:35. Vancouver's Nick Browne (M30-34), winner of the BC 8K championship race in May, finished third in 27:17.

The women's race was won by Dayna Pidhoresky of Ontario, who has had a stellar year of racing, including a 5th at the Sun Run in 34:04, and seconds at the Canadian Half Marathon Championships and the BMO Vancouver Half. Dayna (F20-29) ran 28:44 to defeat Rachel Ruus of Richmond, (F35-39) who finished in 29:43. The first local runner was Nikki Reiter (F20-29), third in 32:08, with Cindy Rhodes (F55-59) fourth in 33:06.

Through an oversight, the New Balance shoe prize was not drawn, so a draw was made later which was won by Emily Millard of Kelowna. Your certificate will be sent to you.

The men's age graded championship was hotly contested, with Merritt's Bruce Wark making it a clean sweep by Merritt men for the second consecutive week by taking the victory in 24:34. Local hero Rory Switzer, now in M50-54, placed tenth overall in winning his group and taking second on A-G in 25:21, while Allan Kerr of Penticton, who turned 70 three months earlier, won his group and was 41st overall in 34:52, to take third A-G in 25:31. Allan had recently run 3:35 at the Windermere Marathon in Spokane. Aabye, Machuga, and Browne placed fourth, sixth, and tenth on age grading. Wark could capture the trophy by scoring well in the last two races, although Aabye continues to lead over Randy Werger and Bill Faulkner.

The women's age grading was equally tough, with the podium finishers relegated to fourth, fifth, and eighth. Cindy Rhodes took her fourth consecutive victory in 26:47 to retain a mathematical chance of winning the year-end trophy over Liz Borrett (F70-74) who took second in 27:36, with last year's winner of the trophy, Diane Leonard (F65-69) third in 27:43.

The series now takes a break of almost two months before the next race, the revived Bike Barn 10K in Penticton on September 8. This flat two loop course offers a great shot at a PB, with the lake nearby for a post-run dip. I hope to see you there!

Peachland Beach Run 10K

July 14th, 2013

The long-running Peachland Beach Run joined the IRRS for the first time this year, and attracted 192 finishers, well up from last year. It was a very hot day, despite the 8:30 start, and the time of most racers was affected, but the lake felt great afterwards! The IRA apologizes for the problems with the results which meant that there were no awards given at the race. Part of the deal we made to attract this race was that we would time both events, and despite a test run of the program, it could not be made to sort properly on race morning. The organizer has assured me that race awards will be mailed to winners. As the New Balance shoes were awarded to a 5K finisher, a new draw has been made and the winner of the shoes is Geoff McIntyre of Kelowna.

Turning to the race itself, Hans Aabye (M35-39) of Merritt stamped his authority over the field at the start, and extended his lead to win by over 3 minutes from Kelowna's Jeff Vogt (M35-39), 35:01 to 38:06, with first master, James Young (M40-44) also of Kelowna, a close third in 38:11.

For the women, young Emily Allin of Penticton (F16-19) won her second race in two starts in a time of 40:43, with the ageless Cindy Rhodes (F55-59) second in 43:34, and Marie-Josee Bedard of Merritt third in 44:07.

On age-grading, Rhodes (35:16) scored the victory over Liz Borrett (F70-75), 38:32, with Lynda Proce (F55-59) of Vernon third in 38:50. For the men, Bruce Wark (M60-64) easily won his division and took the overall title from Aabye, recording 33:33 age-graded from a clock time of 42:05, while Aabye scored 34:16, with Penticton's Sergio Pio (M45-49) third in 34:56.

Thanks to Race Director Pelma Haffenden-Land of Peachland Recreation, and the crew of volunteers for a fun festive Canada Day party atmosphere and lots of draw prizes. A special thank-you to Peter Pollhammer for taking on the timing duties and sorting the results so quickly that afternoon.

The series has a short break until the Midsummer 8K in Kelowna on July 7.

Peachland Beach Run

July 1st, 2013

The IRA apologizes for the problems with the results of the Peachland Beach Run. Both the scoring 10K and non-scoring 5K were timed with the same program, however, despite a test run, the results did not sort properly at the event. Hans Aabye and Emily Allin were first across the line for men and women. A new draw from 10K finishers will be made for the shoes, as they were awarded to 5K finisher Sue Abbott, who was kind enough to return the certificate.

News flash!

June 18th, 2013

Hans Aabye of Merritt finished third overall in the Vancouver, Washington Marathon on Father's Day in a time of 2:43:49. Congratulations Hans!

Addendum to Blackwell Dairy Run race report

June 7th, 2013

After some checking, Hans Aabye's time in this year's race is confirmed as a new record for the course beginning at RL Clemitson Elementary School. The women's course record is held by Cindy Rhodes, who has never been beaten on that course, at 1:00:29 in 2002. Rhodes' victory this year also makes her the oldest runner ever to win an IRA race. Congratulations Hans and Cindy!!

Congratulations also to second place woman Christina Nilsen as the first Kamloops woman to finish, and for her first podium finish.

Blackwell Dairy 15K Run 2013

May 31st, 2013

Hans Aabye has done it again. Running like a man with supreme confidence in his fitness, Aabye (M35-39) destroyed the field on the tough, hilly Barhartvale course in a time of 51:29 which may well be a course record. We are checking the records and will confirm this if we can. He also captured the title on age-grading, which is the first time the winner has scored the double this year, and won his fourth race in a row (and fifth of the year) as well. Ryan Day (M30-34) of Cache Creek came home a distant second in 56:01, with the first Kamloops runner, Richard (Rick) Brewster (M45-49) third in 57:39. Aabye is training for a June marathon, and is rounding into shape very nicely, but is concerned he may not be able to race the marathon, as his work is transferring him to another city and he will have to move house. I'm sure all his friends can get together and move him so that he will be able to race, as I smell a PB in the offing!

Turning to the women's race, the amazing Cindy Rhodes has done it again. At the age of 56, Rhodes finished tenth overall in 1:05:41 to easily take the title from local Christina Nilsen (F35-39) who recorded 1:10:11, with Delilah Topic (F30-34) third in 1:11:00. Rhodes also tied for first on age-grading with the also amazing Liz Borrett (F70-74) with a time of 53:09. Borrett has a near-lock on her first Muckle-Gader Cup, with 5 wins and a second (to Rhodes) in six races, although Lynda Proce still leads the standings, having run all seven races so far. Rhodes retains a mathematical chance of overtaking Borrett if she wins all the remaining races. Taking third on age-grading was last year's winner of the Cup (and Runner of the Year), Kelowna's Diane Leonard (F65-69) in 56:32. Leonard also won the New Balance prize shoes. Nilsen was twelfth and Topic nineteenth.

For the men on age-grading, Aabye recorded 50:47, with Brewster second in 51:33, and Merritt's Bruce Wark (M60-64) third in 51:58. Wark came home seventh overall in 1:05:02, and it is nice to see him racing more often this year. Day was relegated to fifth on age-grading. Aabye maintains a safe lead over Randy Werger in the scoring for the Willis Greenaway Cup, with Keith Burton now pulling into third. Both Werger and this reporter finished the race hobbling, and fortunately now have over a month to heal, with the next race the Peachland Beach Run 10K on Canada Day. This popular community event joins the series for the first time this year, so please come out and participate in the festivities. Less than a week later, the series moves to Kelowna for the Midsummer 8K on July 7.

Compared to 2012, when it was a scorching hot day, this year was a perfect day for running, with mostly overcast skies, temperature in the low teens, and virtually no wind. A spring storm held off until the awards ceremony was over before unloading, much to everyone's relief. This year marks the 100th anniversary of Blackwell Dairy and two generations of Blackwells attended the race, and provided their usual ice cream cones to all.

Thanks to RD Regina Black and the Kamloops Ridge Runners for another successful event with 155 finishers, about 10% below last year, although there were an additional 70 runners in the untimed 3K fun run. Thanks to the Lions Club for the pancakes, and Special Mention to Ridge Runners president emeritus Sherry Maligaspe for handling the announcing without a microphone while wearing a cow suit.

Peach City Runners Blossom Ten Miler - 2013

May 23rd, 2013

Hans Aabye is on a tear! The Merritt runner won his third straight IRA race in Penticton, blasting off on the downhill start and building a one minute lead by the 3K mark over Ryan Day, last year's winner of the Kamloops Marathon. Aabye (M35-39) was never caught, and finished strongly in 54:40, the best winning time in some years. Day (M30-34) finished a distant second in 56:45. Last year's winner Trevor Haaheim (M40-44) of Kelowna, was third in 57:37.

The excellent running conditions (cool overcast with a slight following wind) made for many fast times, with local teenager Emily Allin (F16-19) setting a new age group record in winning in 64:11. Marie-Josee Bedard (F40-44) put two Merritt runners on the podium by besting Cindy Rhodes (F55-59) 67:22 to 67:44 to take second.

Chilliwack's Doug Alward (M55-59) was gunning for Allan Kerr's age group record of 59:01, and ran his heart out in front of his parents to finish fifth overall in 59:39 and take his second IRA age-graded title in two Penticton races in 50:20. Another out-of-town runner who loves running in Penticton, Merritt's Bruce Wark (M60-65), who finished 17th overall in 67:11, placed second with a time of 53:43, and Aabye was third in 54:00.

Boston Marathon

April 16th, 2013

Message from the president of the Interior Running Association:

We are shocked and saddened by the events that occurred April 15 at the Boston Marathon. Our thoughts go out to all those affected. We know that Boston Marathon is an important race for many local runners and we wish them all a swift journey home.

BC Athletics has released the following statement:

BC Athletics extends its condolences and thoughts to the victims and families affected by the tragedy that occurred at the Boston Marathon.

That such a positive, festive event that brings together people from around the world to celebrate and honour is itself a victim – is so very sad.

BC Athletics and the hundreds of event organizers in British Columbia want to assure the participants and spectators that safety is of paramount importance. As appropriate BC Athletics will be asking event organizers to review their safety and security plans with local authorities.

Oliver Wine Capital of Canada 10K –April 14, 2013

April 14th, 2013

Hans Aabye (M35-39) captured his second IRA race in a row, and third of the year in a time of 35 minutes flat, defeating Graham Hood (M40-44) of Kelowna by 50 seconds. Aabye had won the Campus Half last week, and this marks the second time this year he has gained the podium on consecutive weeks in IRA races. Finishing third was Chad Reid (M35-39) of Kelowna in 36:30.

Stacey Cleveland (F35-39) took her second consecutive women's title at the race in 40:43, easily defeating Tiffany Fowler (F40-44) of Kelowna and Marie-Josee Bedard (M40-44) of Merritt, who battled it out for second, with Fowler defeating the younger Bedard 44:04 to 44:07. Bedard had previously edged out Delilah Topic (F30-34, who finished fifth this time) to win the River's Spring Run Off a month ago.

Turning to the age graded results, Lynda Proce (F55-59) finally gained the top spot by finishing in 47:52, good for 37:42, to defeat Jill Lawson (F50-54) of North Vancouver, who ran 44:38, good for 38:04 age-graded and Patricia Riegel (F65-69)) of Vernon, who recorded 56:17, good for 40:02. Race winner Cleveland was relegated to fifth.

On the men's side, last year's winner of the Greenaway Trophy, Penticton's Sergio Pio (M45-49) took the title. Pio, who finished seventh overall in 37:41, defeated Hood by seven seconds in 33:30, with Aabye third at 34:15.

Okanagan College Half Marathon Apr. 7, 2013

April 7th, 2013

The eleventh edition of the Okanagan College Half (originally the Campus to Campus Half) was the first time the race was a part of the Canadian Tire Interior Road Race Series. The race is now a modified loop from the KLO Campus, and was held in conjunction with a 10K and a Half marathon relay, which were not part of our series. These events made for some added excitement, with the three relay exchanges adding to spectator interest, and the 10K starting 15 minutes ahead of the Half. This was the first IRA race to feature chip timing, and the College website shows results of the chip times as well as gun times, whereas the medals, and IRA times are recorded from gun (clock) time. The IRA is interested in your opinion of this event, positive or negative, and whether you would like to see it continue in the series. Please contact your club rep, or a member of the IRA executive with your opinions.

Another perfect day for running made for fast times for the second race in a row, and a race record 297 runners finished as the series moved to the south Okanagan for race #2. John Machuga (M30-34) ran his first IRA race of the season and took up where he left off in 2012, winning in 15:56. Machuga is undefeated in his last six races. For the second year in a row, Hans Aabye (M35-39) was outsprinted at the finish, this time by local runner Eddie Smith (M30-34), who took second place by two seconds in 16:21.

Starting Block 10K Run 2013

February 17th, 2013

With a spate of mild weather over the recent past, the course was very snow-free and in great running shape, and some fast times were posted. For only the second time I can remember, the overall winner on age grading was a woman, with 2011 Runner of the Year Liz Borrett (F70-74) claiming the honor by clocking 53:13 at age 74, which graded out at 32:38, to break her age group record set last year. Liz has run faster every year she has run this race, what an inspiration! Jack Miller (M65-69) was the top man on age-grading, running 44:11 at age 67, which graded out at 33:22, to break his age group record set last year. These performances overshadowed the winners on clock time, Hans Aabye (M35-39) of Merritt, who ran 34:17, and Jessica Hannah (F30-34) of Kelowna, who ran 38:57. For Hannah, it was her third overall victory in the race, and for Aabye, whose nemesis John Machuga chose to run the First Half in Vancouver, it was his second victory at Lavington. Aabye's time was also an age-group record, besting the time set by Tom Evans in winning the race in 2004.

Schedule of events

February 4th, 2013

The IRA is happy to announce our final schedule for 2013. Thanks to Trevor Haaheim, Brian Wrightson, and the KRC, Peak to Beak is back on the schedule on Sep. 22. To make room, the Reino Keski-Salmi Memorial Run will move to Oct. 20, and the Larry Nicholas Memorial Run will move to Nov. 3. Thank you to Donna Nicholas, Cindy Rhodes, and Abbi May for working out these changes.

There will be some sort of year-end celebration in November, but it will likely not be an awards banquet as in the past. Please watch this space for announcements.

Okanagan College Half

January 14th, 2013

Okanagan College Half Marathon on-line registration is now open. Check out Bill Stephens report for the kids series for this year. Has kept it as simple as possible so that more clubs get involved. It would be great if three or four of the existing races added a kids race to their program.
